CWP Energy has awarded £6,000 in funding to the Dunbar Harbour Trust to support essential recovery work following the fire at McArthur’s Store in October 2025. The funding will support two critical projects which will help ensure the continued safe and reliable operation of Dunbar Harbour for the local fishing community, RNLI crews, leisure boat users, and wider harbour visitors.

A key part of the grant will go towards replacing the harbour’s fuel monitoring and dispensing system, which was destroyed in the fire. The Trust’s previous system, known as Timeplan, allowed fishermen to access fuel using key fobs and enabled accurate tracking of fuel usage and invoicing.

The remaining funding will contribute to the ongoing replacement of harbour access ladders, which are vital for safe access to vessels and the Trust is working to ensure these upgrades continue despite the focus on repairs following the fire. Dunbar Harbour Trust is a registered charity and has supported the harbour for more than 21 years, employing two full-time and one part-time staff.

John-Robert Eunson, Dunbar Harbour Trust, said:
“The fire at McArthur’s Store was a major setback for the harbour and the services we provide day-to-day. This funding from CWP Energy will allow us to replace essential equipment that was destroyed and continue important safety improvements such as the harbour ladder replacements. It’s a huge support for the fishermen and all harbour users who rely on these facilities.”
