2025 the ‘warmest and sunniest year on record’ – Met Office says

2025 was a record-breaking year for the UK, being both the warmest and sunniest year on record according to provisional Met Office data. Average temperatures reached 10.09 °C, the highest since records began in 1884 while total sunshine amounted to 1,648.5 hours, surpassing the previous record set in 2003. Although parts of the year were very dry, later wetter conditions meant overall rainfall was close to the long-term average.
