The UK government’s newly published Carbon Budget & Growth Delivery Plan has revealed that the clean-energy sector is growing at three times the rate of the broader UK economy, while private investment into renewable and low-carbon industries has already exceeded £50 billion in the past year.
For renewable energy developer and operator CWP Energy, this represents a landmark moment. With strong policy backing and rapid sector growth, the company is well-positioned to accelerate its project pipeline and deliver substantial clean energy, jobs and community benefits across the UK.
“The UK’s clean-energy transition is no longer a niche effort, it is a central part of economic growth, job creation and energy security,” said Rod Wood MBE, Managing Director of CWP Energy. “As the government’s plan clearly shows, this is the decade to scale renewables, bring down bills, warm homes and cut emissions. Our focus now is on turning that ambition into real projects, real jobs and real progress.”
Key highlights from the government plan:
Clean-energy sectors growing 3× faster than the UK economy overall.
Emissions have fallen by over 50% since 1990 while the economy has grown by 80%+.
Private sector investment in clean energy industries surpassed £50 billion since July 2024.
The UK workforce in the clean-energy economy is set to more than double to over 800,000 jobs by 2030.
Planning decisions equivalent to powering 7.5 million homes included in the plan.
