CWP Energy funds 10 weeks of sport sessions at Langholm Primary and Nursery

CWP Energy has partnered with Dumfries-based Let’s Get Sporty to bring free sport sessions to pupils at Langholm Primary and Nursery.

CWP Energy has funded 10 weeks of free sports sessions at Langholm Primary. In a partnership with Dumfries-based Let’s Get Sporty, the CWP-funded sessions aim to boost the fitness and confidence of the pupils.

Pupils taking part in the sessions, which spanned 5 weeks at the end of 2024 and 5 weeks at the start of 2025, enjoyed a variety of different sports each week. This variety helped to boost their confidence and team-work skills, as it put them in groups with existing friends but facilitated the start of new friendships.

Dayne Moore, Programme Manager at Let’s Get Sporty, said: “The sessions have been fantastically received in both the school and the local community. Normally Langholm is an area that doesn’t always get the opportunity for us to deliver in, due to other work elsewhere in the region, so to be able to provide these sessions with the support of CWP Energy is fantastic.”

Gillian Cropper, Projects Director at CWP Energy, said: “These sessions highlight the importance of physical activity and we are delighted to be able to have funded this particular block of sessions. We have a long-standing working relationship with Let’s Get Sporty, and we are keen for this to continue as we progress our new project in Dumfries and Galloway.”

CWP Energy is the developer of Caple Rig Wind Farm, for which a Scoping application was submitted in January 2025 to the Energy Consents Unit. Caple Rig Wind Farm will support Scotland’s just transition to net zero and the Scoping Report and accompanying figures are available to view here.
