Cockburnspath, Scotland, 20 September 2025, CWP Energy is proud to announce its support for the newly opened community playground in the village of Cockburnspath & Cove, officially unveiled at a grand opening ceremony on 20th September.
As a key project sponsor, CWP Energy contributed £80,000 to help bring this much needed facility to life, a space shaped by local voices and built to meet the needs of families in the area. The new playground is the result of a dedicated community fundraising effort that began in 2021, driven by residents determined to create a safe and inspiring environment for their children to play and grow.
Expected to serve around 100 local children, the playground is already proving to be a vital social hub in an area where access to organised activities is limited. In addition to supporting children’s wellbeing, the facility is also boosting local footfall to the community owned shop, strengthening the village’s social and economic infrastructure.
“At CWP Energy, we believe in investing in initiatives that deliver long-term, positive outcomes for communities,” said Diane Wood, Director of ESG at CWP Energy.
“This project is a shining example of community empowerment in action. It reflects the voices of local families and delivers a safe, inclusive space that will benefit children today and for generations to come.”
A standout feature of the project was the involvement of local children in the design process, ensuring the playground reflects their ideas, needs, and aspirations. It stands as a compelling example of what can be achieved when communities come together with shared vision and purpose. CWP Energy extends its congratulations to the residents, volunteers, and partner organisations who made this inspiring project possible.
