For many, the expenses of Christmas – gifts, food, entertainment – puts great pressure on finances. At a time when heating costs are also high, families in Scotland can be forced to choose between paying for food or keeping their home warm over the winter period. This Christmas, CWP Energy has funded the tenth year of our Dalry hamper programme alongside North Ayrshire Foodbank, a charity based in Ardrossan.
Over the past decade, the hampers have been described as a “lifeline” for local families, featuring carrots, potatoes, apples, grapes, Pringles, biscuits, and high-quality meat from Dalry butcher R. Stalker and Sons. Each year, over 250 hampers are distributed through charities and agencies, ensuring that those in need can enjoy delicious food over Christmas.
Craig Crosthwaite, Coordinator of North Ayrshire Foodbank, said: “We hear from each of our charity partners the huge difference that these hampers make each year. Without the joy they bring, hundreds of families would experience a very stark Christmas day.”
Diane Wood, Director of ESG at CWP Energy, said: “We are so pleased to support North Ayrshire Foodbank for a tenth year, spanning numerous initiatives including the Christmas hampers and summer school meal campaigns. We deeply value the close relationship we have built with Craig and his team. Bringing relief to families at this time of year is incredibly important, and we extend our sincere thanks to all who are involved in delivering the amazing outreach programme.” Find out more about North Ayrshire Foodbank here: https://northayrshire.foodbank.org.uk/
