Educational Ranger, Pete Boustead, is an integral member of the CWP ENERGY team, working with schools in Dalry, North Ayrshire and schools in the Garnock Valley, alongside key outreach work within the Dalry community since 2006.
Based in the BeGreen Dalry Centre, our Educational Ranger is the friendly face of Dalry and known locally as Ranger Pete by hundreds of local children.
Pete’s background is focused on conservation and environmental work, with many years spent with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) on a number of reserves throughout Britain. Following this, Pete worked as a Countryside Ranger with Clyde Muirshiel Regional Ranger before joining CWP ENERGY as an Educational Ranger.
Pete is a valuable additional teaching resource for the local schools, working with Early Years groups and P1 to P7 classes. Ranger Pete helps the teachers in the different topics the classes do each term, delivering presentations and interactive workshops as well as assisting in the provision of outdoor learning, which is increasingly seen as an important part of children’s education.
Ranger Pete also assists with organising educational trips for schools, with funding support from CWP ENERGY and the Dalry Parish Boundary Trust.
Pete’s role is to inspire young people about the outdoor environment and nature, and educational trips and visits are a key element of this. As a local Ranger, Pete takes the lead through inspiring class sessions both indoors and outdoors, ensuring the younger generations are aware of the importance of protecting our rich biodiversity, which is essential during the current climate change and nature crisis.

Our Educational Ranger is also a Trustee of the Dalry Parish Boundary Trust (DPBT), established in 2014 to deliver community benefit funding from our Millour Hill Wind Farm and its Extension. Over £125,000 is distributed each year through the DPBT, benefiting charities, schools, clubs and events within the Parish boundary.
Ranger Pete and the DPBT Trustees were vital to the successful delivery of the £300,000 DPBT Energy Fund which helped over 750 local households during the cost-of-living crisis.
Pete advised and reassured many local residents, and filled out countless applications on their behalf as many did not have a secure connection or access to the internet.
We are committed to working closely with local communities, landowners, and all stakeholders in relation to our renewable energy developments. If you would like further information or have an enquiry, please get in touch.
